CIKM AnalytiCup 2018 - Cross-lingual Short-text Matching of Question Pairs
Background Alibaba Group is the leading internet service provider in the world. It not only runs the largest e-commerce platform in China, such as Taobao and Tmall, but also provides high quality online shopping experience. Everyday millions of merchants communicate with their consumers through our service and make deals on this platform. AliMe is an online conversational assistant for individual users. It enables intelligent services such as all-time shopping guides, assistance service, chatting service and supports many other products within Alibaba's ecosystem.
Short-text matching is one of the most common and important tasks when designing and developing chatbots. However, with the process of globalization, we need to provide service with foreign languages, such as English, Spanish, etc. In this challenge, we focus on the language adaptation problem in short-text matching task.

Participation The Competition is open to all individuals. One account per participant. You may form a team with at most 4 members. Advisory board members (and their immediate families and members of the same household) of the Competition Sponsor, Tianchi and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors, agents, judges and advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to participate in the Competition.
Submission and evaluation 1. Training data are provided to debug offline and submit results to Tianchi. 2. The leaderboard daily updates at 10:00 UTC+8. You can submit results as many as you want, but only the last submission before update will be evaluated. 3. Results in the leaderboard will be presented in ascending order of loss scores. 4. Final rank and scores are calculated on the leaderboard revealed at 10:00 UTC+8 on August 1, 2018. 5. Privately sharing code or data outside of teams is not permitted. It's okay to share code if made available to all participants in the forums.
Award 1st place: EUR 2,000 2nd place: EUR 1,500 3rd place: EUR 1,000 We will award 3 teams (selected from top 1-20) based on the materials (code + solution report + presentation files) they submitted. Traveling Support: Top 3 teams will also receive EUR 1,000/team as travelling support conditioned on that they present their solutions on CIKM 2018, which will be held in Italy in October, 2018.
